横浜DeNAランニングクラブに所属している上野裕一郎選手。トレードマークであるサングラスと華のある走りで有名な選手だ。今話では「 トラック競技で東京オリンピックに出場する」という今後の目標などについて聞いた。

I have never played without sunglasses, and I think that there are few matches where I got sunglasses on my head when I made a goal. Even in the pouring rain, only one person is running with running sunglasses.
ーー本当にこだわっていますね。
Ueno やっぱり競技に欠かせないものですからね。たまにサングラスをしたまま生活している時があったり、練習が終わって一息ついている際に他の人に「サングラス外さないの？」って言われて気づいたり、それぐらい身体と一体化していますね。
ーー最後に今後の目標をお聞かせください。

日本だとトラック競技は年齢を重ねるとスピードが出なくなって、みんなマラソンにいくか引退してしまうんですけど、僕はまだまだいけると思います。
ーーまだまだ進化できると？

ーー先ほどお話にあった好きなトラック競技よりも、若干苦手なマラソンを頑張るということですね。
UenoNow I focus on one favorite track competition, but if I make it a dualization I can not be compatible, so I will focus on marathons when the track is over. I think that there will be absolute progress.

- Do you have anything to appeal?
UenoI will not lose to Osamu Jie. (Laugh) I am a junior, but I think that I was able to compete at the Japanese championship, so I do not want to lose anyway. There are not any athletes who have been thought of as a rival so far. There was a strong junior like Yuki Sato, but it is not a rival.
Oosako is under 6 years old, and he did not even consider myself competing against his athlete. What I'm thinking now is that I want to change the feeling of the Japanese terrestrial world.
There is a trend such as "If it is not enough" when you age in track racing, and as for a marathon it is cool to say that "fat is getting on" when you age, but if I do, "I think that there is a good place if grease comes on!" I want to overturn that fixed concept.

35歳になって日本選手権で勝って、東京オリンピックに出たら「やってやったぜ！」って思いますし、20代の選手に対しても「やってやったぜ！」って言ってやりたいですよ（笑）
