King Gear founder Tatsuhito Kaneko x vintage spike collector Hiroaki Konishi talks about "West German PUMA spikes" vol.3
Mr. Tatsuhito Kaneko actually puts on the vintage PUMA spikes brought by Mr. Hiroaki Konishi and checks the feel. The conversation between Mr. Kaneko and Mr. Konishi, which explodes with joy, is derived from the soccer situation in the 1980s.

Kaneko: Konishi-san, do you have narrow feet?
Konishi: No, it's wide. When I was in college, I only wore cheap spikes, and I admired West German spikes, so I often went to soccer stores and looked at them. At the very end of my fourth year at university, I bought and wore PUMA shoes made in West Germany (Note 1).
(Note 1) Rio (left), a model made in West Germany, which I wore for the first time at the end of university (around 1987). There is a golden line model (named overseas as "TORO") with the same model number (396). Thirty years ago, the Rio was worn by Japanese national team players and was a relatively popular model. The model on the right was a phantom model at the time.
Kaneko: How was it when you tried it on?
Konishi: I only wore it as a souvenir, so I don't remember it at all.
Kaneko: There were many people who said it hurt. It's not that thin when you look at it.
I'm a person with almost no fifth metatarsal, so I didn't mind PUMA at all. The width of leather shoes is also 1E.

Kaneko: It was like that with Kazushi Kimura.
Konishi: I like to observe things like that.
Kaneko: Yes, I like it too!
Konishi: In the past, I felt like I was being used as much as I was tied up.
Kaneko: You repainted Asics with PUMA (Note 2).
(Note 2) Mr. Konishi has introduced fake spikes several times. Regarding former Italian national team player Antognoni, Mr. Kaneko also posted that he changed from Puma to Diadora at the 1982 World Cup (http://king-gear.com/articles/88). Kaneko: No, thank you. How much is this total?
Konishi: It's expensive, about 20,000 yen per pair. The cheap ones are priced like throwing them away. I buy everything online or at auctions. I live in the mountains where I can't interact with people, so I rely only on the internet.
Kaneko: That said, don't you think you need a lot of English?
Konishi: In places like Malaysia, junior high school English is commonly used.
Kaneko: I would like Mr. Konishi to become King Gear's authority and let him know that there is such an interesting world.
Konishi: It's an honor. Thank you very much. By the way, depending on the model, there are several of the same items, so if it's just one or two pairs, I'd be happy to display them here.
Kaneko: If it's on display, I'll definitely steal it (laughs).
Konishi: I hope you can take it home as a souvenir, look at it at home, and bring it back.
Kaneko: That's why I have a PUMA shelf at home, and I decorate it all and look at it.
Konishi: You say you have dozens of soccer digests and magazines at home, but isn't that a lot? It's hard to collect old soccer magazines now, but I also collect soccer magazines from the 80's as important materials.
Kaneko: If you can get it, I made my debut in the January issue of Soccer Digest 1988, but it's filled with things like editorial notes about me.
Konishi: Maybe there is.
Kaneko: Louis Baroche on the cover. Because it was a feature of Porto in the Toyota Cup. There was also the Japan-China match for the Seoul Olympics Asian qualifiers. Because I lost, I didn't get one side (Note 3).
(Note 3) Mr. Konishi didn't have many digests, but luckily he kept the issue. Rui Baroche is small at 160cm and plays an active part in the Portuguese national team. Mr. Kaneko's innocent comment is posted in the lower right of the image.
Konishi: I went to the National Stadium from Aichi Prefecture, where I lived at the time, to see the historic moment, but it ended in a sad ending.
Kaneko: I was still a student, but that match was my work debut and I went to get comments.
Konishi: Eh! It's quite difficult to take, if you lose in such a big game.
Kaneko: A scary senior told me to go charge, so I went (Note 4).
(Note 4) An article about the match against China, which qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 20 years. Horiike, who is the same age as Mr. Kaneko, and Matsuyama (who is one year younger) were already competing as main players. Did Mr. Kaneko get comments from the two?
