Historical spikes loved by heroes VOL.10 "World Cup Scorer's Golden Boots" Edition

The golden boots given to the top scorer from the previous tournament were the golden version of the Adidas World Cup with a 3-material sole, which we introduced earlier. However, this model has been in production since around the time of the 1982 tournament, so it feels a little out of date. I looked into how the Golden Boots of each tournament were.

(I started spike blog.https://maradonaboots.com/INIt is said that the Golden Boot was awarded to the top scorer in the 1982 World Cup in Spain, but unlike the previous World Cup, the ones given to recent winners were based on the latest model at that time. It seems that.

For the time being, I have included spikes that appear to be the model for the Golden Boots of each tournament, but I am a complete outsider when it comes to spikes from the Heisei era onwards, so please forgive me if I am wrong (Figures 1 and 2).

Anyway, the one awarded to Ronaldo at the 2002 tournament has a very retro feel. Maybe I just couldn't find the right image, but I feel like it's too old.Apparently, this Golden Boot was a special version that matched the record for most points scored in the World Cup at the time.

The silver boots of that year (Rivaldo, top right corner of Figure 1) seem to have been inspired by the latest model at that time.

Figure 1 Top scorers from the 2002 to 2010 World Cup. I have posted the model spikes of each Golden Boot (the one on the right is silver) below, but they are too new for me to remember the model name.

However, the total number of points scored by these three players in the World Cup is amazing. For the latest information on soccer spikes, we recommend the following websites.

The Golden Boots from the 1998 to 1990 Games also appear to be based on the models from that time (Figure 2).

By the way, the spike manufacturers that the top scorers were wearing at the time of the tournament were 2014: Adidas, 2010: Adidas, 2006: Adidas, 2002: Nike, 1998: Lott, 1994: Cronos and Reebok (probably), 1990 Year: Cronos (?), 1986: Adidas, 1982: Lancer (?), 1978: Puma, 1974: Adidas, 1970: Adidas, 1966: Puma, previously uninvestigated.

There doesn't seem to be any particular regularity. Please forgive me if I'm wrong too.

Figure 2 Top scorers from the 1990 to 1998 World Cup. I have posted model spikes for each Golden Boot below, but these are too new for me so I don't know the model name.

90I believe that Schillaci, who was active in the 2016 tournament, was wearing spikes made by Cronos, a manufacturer that appeared at the time, but the soles appear to be Adidas (Figure 3, right).

After all, it may have been safer to buy from a long-established manufacturer than from a new manufacturer. However, it seems that the model used was not the Italian Games model (bottom right of Figure 2, probably made in France), which was the motif of the Golden Boots, but a standard model.

Thumb efbc94Figure 3: The top scorer at the 1990 tournament appears to have Adidas shoes, both replaceable (World Cup) and fixed (Kopamun).
Now, Salenko and Stoichkov were awarded the title of top scorer at the 1994 tournament, but the golden boots held by Stoichkov (left in Figure 4) seem to be different from the model of Salenko in the center of Figure 2.

However, there was an image of Salenko holding the same type of spikes (center of Figure 4). Which one is real?
Furthermore, the Golden Boots owned by Lineker from the 1986 Games appear to be the same model (Figure 4, right).

The model used for the Golden Boot motif for these two tournaments appears to be the Adidas World Cup model, but if you look closely, they are different.
Thumb efbc95Figure 4 The Golden Boots from 1986 (right, Lineker) and 1994 seem to be the same model. It is similar to the model held by Schillaci in Figure 3, but if you look closely, it is different. I believe Stoichkov (left) was active in the 1994 tournament wearing Kronos spikes.

When I researched the Golden Boot, I found out that, in addition to the World Cup top scorer, the Golden Boot (now called the Golden Shoe), which is awarded every year to the top scorer in Europe, was also this model for quite a long time.

Stoichkov in Figure 4 may have been photographed when he won the award (1989-1990 season).

By the way, items similar to these Golden Boots have recently been put up for auction overseas (Figure 5, right). The sole is the same 3-material sole as the Adidas World Cup, but the upper design seems to be different.Thumb efbc96
Figure 5 The Golden Boot for Europe's annual top scorer has been awarded since 1968. The first recipient of the award was Eusebio from Portugal, but recently heroes from Portugal, Argentina, and Uruguay have been awarded the award almost every year, and the boots shown in the lower left corner have been presented (this year it seems to be a player from a different country).

This model seems to have remained unchanged since around 2000. The model before that is the same type as shown in Figure 4 (the one on the top left belonged to Brazilian player Ronaldo in 1997).

I don't know if it's the real thing, but a very similar item (right) is currently being auctioned overseas (as of May 25th) (I think you can see it by searching for adidas or golden boots on eBay) ). Looks like the studs can be removed.

Was the World Cup Golden Boot this model from the beginning?

The first World Cup Golden Boot was presented to Rossi at the 1982 tournament, but to complicate matters again, the model he wore at that time was different from those shown in Figures 4 and 5.

Thumb efbc97Figure 6: Players honored at the 1982 World Cup. The spikes in his hand are black and white, so it's hard to tell, but I think they're probably the same as the model in the insert photo (the one of the 1984 European top scorer rusher).

It appears that the Golden Boot models in the 1980s shown in Figures 4 to 6 were French-made Adidas spikes, and both were the models favored by the general in the bottom right of Figure 7.

Most prestigious awards in the soccer world, such as the Jules Rimet Trophy and the Ballon d'Or, seem to come from France, but the Golden Boot also seems to have had a strong French flavor in the past.

French-made Adidas spikes are a mystery to me, but I would like to introduce them to you someday.

Thumb efbc98Figure 7 Spikes that are thought to have been the model for the Golden Boots of the 1980s. AA2763 (top left), AA2361 (Iberica, top right).

French hero Platini wore the left spike at the 1984 EURO and Iberica at the 1982 World Cup.
Both were luxury models, but I don't think they were major models. However, for some reason it seems to have been adopted as a model for Golden Boots. 9091year seasonPanchev (bottom left), Europe's top scorer of the year, was presented with the Golden Boot by Platini (bottom right) when he was honored 15 years later after many twists and turns.

Some of the players introduced this time are the ones with the most total World Cup points, but I don't think there will be many Japanese players who can break the individual World Cup records in the future.

Unfortunately, he was not included in the squad for the Russia tournament, but if Kubo (FC Tokyo) had participated, he could have broken the record for being the youngest player to participate.

I would like to write about those things next time.
