Reebok's boasting "The Pump Technology" the world's first! What is shoes that adjust by pneumatic pressure
Reebok is developing as a global fitness / lifestyle brand with mission of "maximizing the possibilities of their own through fitness" to maximize human beings. So I asked Mr. Yamane of Mr. Yamane of Reebok marketing business headquarters about shoes equipped with "The Pump Technology" which adjusts the fit by pneumatic without tieing the brand's representative string.

――The beginning of Reebok
1895年に、イギリスで1人の青年ジョセフ・ウィリアムス・フォスターがランニングシューズ作り出すところから始まった。
その後、1958年にアメリカで「リーボック社」を設立するとランニング以外にも様々なスポーツシューズがを作るようになり、リーボックにとって1989年が大きな転換期となった。「ザ・ポンプテクノロジー」という空気圧でフィット感を調整する技術の開発に成功し、まず初めにバスケットシューズに採用されたのである。 それから他のシューズにも、「ザ・ポンプテクノロジー」が搭載されていった。
1つアイコニックな商品となるのが、1994年に登場した「インスタポンプフューリー」となる。最近、街中でもよく見かけられるこのシューズは、「ザ・ポンプテクノロジー」を搭載したランニングシューズとして登場したが、その斬新なデザインとファッション性からストリートでも人気を博し、現在は復刻版のファッションスニーカーとして人気のモデルである。
シューレースなしでフィット感を調整ができる「ザ・ポンプテクノロジー」は今でも画期的とされ、「インスタポンプフューリー」はパフォーマンスが目的ではなくファッションの1つとして位置付けされている。そして2015年に、「ザ・ポンプテクノロジー」を搭載したランニングシューズが再び展開されるようになり、新しいモデルが誕生している。

――Structures that can be used even in daily life
Yamane: It became a flat sole. It is more comfortable to wear, the fit is improved. Close to sneakers, it is the most attractive design with high designing fashion sense.
In recent years, the barrier between casual and running is getting ruined, I think that the model like this will continue to increase. ――About future prospects
Yamane: Reebok thinks he has stocks of shoes that are very easy for people to start running. Although there seems to be some data that actually started running but there seems to be data that most people quit, but Reebok's shoes are focused on style, so they will match in various scenes other than running I think that it is very easy to use.
From now on I will develop running products for those who do daily training and fitness rather than competition. Highly designed running shoes that can be worn even in plain clothes are going to appear one after another.
Reebok is advocating "fitness running", not just running, but as a core of fitness, run is thinking that by combining with various training it will be more effective.
