Historical spikes loved by heroes VOL.71 "90 World Cup Diego exclusive model + α acquisition edition (Part 2)"

Due to Diego's admiration for spikes, he has continued to collect vintage spikes and communicated about them, and (perhaps because of that) he was finally able to obtain the ultimate model. This is the second installment following the previous one.

last timeIn addition to the 1990 World Cup model we introduced, we were able to obtain two additional models.

A model that I personally feel was well received is the Yugoslavia war model shown in Figure 1.
The quarterfinals of the 1990 World Cup were against Yugoslavia, which was coached by the late Osim and had a young player named Stojkovic.

About Diego's spikes from the 1990 World CupHereAs mentioned above, the model for the match against Yugoslavia was the one used only for this match, with "PUMA" written in green on the black tongue.

Figure 3 shows the model we introduced last time, with only one leg wearing the same type of sole as at the time, but this time,Both legs were repaired.
Thank you very much, Repair Workshop Amor.

Sorry for the late reply, but as I explained last time, the two new pairs I got this time seem to have originally been fixed models, and the soles had been peeled off. Perhaps because the sole had deteriorated, it remained unused in Diego's old home in Argentina.

90Year WIn the games in which I wore this type of shoe (against the Soviet Union, Romania (first half), and Brazil (midway through the first half)), I broke the tongue of the shoe (on the left, before the kickoff against Romania). The model I got didn't have a reversible tongue, so I took a picture with a commercially available King tongue (right).

The Puma line with "Diego" printed on the models shown in Figures 3 and 4 had finger marks (probably) from when the spikes were made.
Fingerprints are also left, although it is unclear why they were left behind (Figure 5).

Why are fingerprints left in such a place? Is it made by a Puma craftsman?
Could it be that person...?

Figure 6 was also introduced last time. This is a model with a flashy tongue that was worn during practice at Cup and Napoli. I also had soles attached to both feet.

As far as I know, this type of tongue model has only been confirmed as a fixed type like the one on the right.

The most frequently used model for the 1990 World Cup was the normal King shoe tongue with a green line on the heel. In the end, I couldn't get that type, so I tried taking a picture with the King tongue attached (Figure 7).

Figure 8 Three pairs of “Diego”It is a collector's great privilege to be able to display models with prints on them. When I lined them up, I noticed that the model with the green heel line had a green string loop, but the construction of that part was different for each model.

I am certainly happy that I was able to obtain a model with "Diego" printed on it for the 1990 World Cup, but what made me personally most excited was that I was able to obtain the model shown in Figure 9.

The previous models are based on the King, which was remodeled just before Germany was unified, but the type I like most is stillking of the 80sis the base model.

Figure 9 is the type that Diego often wore with Napoli and the national team after the 1986 World Cup, and I believe he was also wearing this model when he won his first Scudetto and European Cup.

I had seen in pictures that this model was owned by an Italian collector, but I never thought I would be able to see it in person.

Originally, I was planning to get only one leg of this model (top left), but I managed to get both legs. In the upper right corner, the display on the side that was recently obtained is “PUMAEquivalent model only.It is unclear whether it is a custom-made item or an off-the-shelf item.
Below are spikes actually used by Diego, owned by an Italian collector who has always admired them.
I'm glad that even Japanese people were able to get their hands on this model. For me, it doesn't really matter whether it's actually used or not, it's just a processed product with the sole added on afterward, but I get excited when I think that it's in the hands of the owner, even if it's only for a moment.
We would like to thank everyone for their cooperation.

Looking back, the first time I wrote a column for King Gear was before the last World Cup. A new tournament will start soon.
I never expected that the world would change so much during that time.

At the last tournament, he was cheering for his home country more passionately than anyone else in the audience seats.Diego's appearanceBut I'm sad that I won't be able to see it at this tournament.

This time, I was able to get my hands on an item related to Diego, and I feel like I finally have the right to talk about the cleats that the great footballer loved, so I would like to continue disseminating information. .

And, as I'm sure Diego in heaven wishes, more than anything, I hope that the war and the coronavirus pandemic will come to an end as soon as possible, and that the world will be able to enjoy a soccer festival.
