The Giants lose to BC Ibaraki in a youthful defeat Komada 3rd Army Manager encourages them to "Do your best so that your dreams are not eaten"
The NPB exchange game between the Ibaraki Astro Planets, who won the first district championship in the route-in BC league, and the Yomiuri Giants (3rd Army) was held on September 4th at Hitachi Municipal Stadium. This day's game, Ibaraki, who was gaining momentum, won 11-9, and it seems that it was a valuable opportunity for the Ibaraki players to appeal before the autumn draft meeting. This time, we asked Norihiro Komada, manager of the Yomiuri Giants 3rd Army, about the summary of the day's game and the significance of the friendly match.

――It became a long-running game. First of all, please look back on the game and say something.
Komada:In the end, we were beaten, but despite some mistakes, I think it was a match with a lot of good plays overall. In a scrambled match like today, there are various “complicated plays” during the game, but there are many things that can be learned.
In particular, defensive mistakes are a good learning experience, so we confirmed at the post-match meeting that we have to practice from now on, taking into account various reflection points, growth and immature points of the players.
――In today's game, 6 pitchers nominated in the most recent draft were pitched.
Komada:Some of the pitchers who have been doing well and receiving high praise so far were at the mercy of Ibaraki's attacks while entwining their legs, and there were some parts that were defeated in this game.
With fewer games remaining in the season, there will be more opportunities for players from the 2nd Army to be called up to the 1st Army, but at the same time, it will also create opportunities for the 3rd Army to be called up to the 2nd Army.
If I go up to the 2nd Army and do my best there, there is a possibility that I will be able to accompany the Phoenix League and the 1st Army camp next spring, and the opportunities will continue to expand. There are many such cases especially for pitchers in their first year, so I have to make sure that the one inning in front of me does not drag down my baseball career.
I told the players, "Even if you get hit by the first batter, I want you to go into the game with a strong determination to 'stop with the next batter'."
In the 4th inning, Ishida pitched well with all three outs.
Yamada, a 2nd place rookie in the draft, also pitched from the 8th inning and kept no runs. He aims to improve his ball control, which is an issue, and make his first army debut next season.
――Is there anything that Coach Komada has to say to the players who will challenge the friendly match?
Komada:The 3rd Army is made up of players between the ages of 18 and 23. So, when we play against a team with a lot of experience, our inexperienced parts come out no matter what. What I tell these players on a daily basis is, ``We have made our dreams come true.
Now, even though it is the 3rd army, NPBThe reason why I am able to become a member is because I had a dream of "I want to be someone's professional baseball player". In order for the players to aim for the top, I think it is necessary to show in the game "why I was selected in the draft".
If you can't show the difference in your specialty genre, such as "strong shoulders", "playing cleverly", and "hitting amazing home runs", your dreams will be eaten up. Playing a match with an amateur player means, "It means that you are in a situation where someone can eat your dreams."
――In this year, where did you feel the team's growth the most? ?
Komada:Well, it depends on how much you consider "growth". I'm looking forward to next year, especially since it's been a year since I saw great growth in pitchers who graduated from high school.
On the other hand, fielders are gradually showing signs of growth. I would like them to think about how they should proceed with the game in order to win the game, and how they should learn the details of baseball that are unique to Giants players.
Junretsu, who served as a one-day cheerleader for the Ibaraki Astro Planets in the match that day.
――Lastly, please give a message to your fans.
Komada:It was great to see so many of you today, and to have a lot of fun.I am grateful that various people like Mr. Junretsu are helping to bring excitement to the baseball world, and I hope that they will continue to visit the stadium in the future.
We want to liven up the baseball world by playing matches with local teams like the BC League, and we want to be of service to society while watching the growth of our players.
