To the top of the world again! Freestyle football team Aleg-Re interview vol. 1
Freestyle football, a competition that attracts viewers with ball performance that incorporates dance elements etc., while based on football lifting technology. The Japanese have had many results in the world in this competition. A freestyle football team Aleg-Re (Areg), consisting of YU-J (Yuzy, left), YOSSHI (Yoshi, Chuo) and i-zu (Iz, right), is one of a group that has made its history. It is the world's number one in the world routine of SuperBall's Double Routine (performance with a pair) at the 2015 World Congress, which has reached the top in Japan. And this year, in order to take over the world seat again, challenge the stage of SuperBall again. The event will be held from August 21st to 26th, and will be held with 55 pairs of freestylers from around the world gathered at the venue, the Czech Republic.
-First of all, please tell us about your sports background before starting freestyle football.
i-to: From the third grade of elementary school in football, immediately after entering the keeper became the same position until the retirement of high school club activities. I have known freestyle football since my junior high school days, but what I did in earnest was from university.
YU-J: When I was in junior high school I was playing kendo, and I played freestyle football from the first year of high school. There was no one around me, but YOSSHI and the local were practicing together at the same time. i-zu is a feeling that I met through freestyle football at high school. The people who are doing this competition called JAM gather and have the opportunity to kick all together in our local area, Kyoto, and we met there.
i-toA: Everyone is from Kyoto, but I'm just a little away in the city from YU-J and YOSSHI as Maizuru.
YOSSHI: I was in junior high school for 3 months in basketball, 3 months in high school for soccer, and then I was fishing and traveling. But freestyle football started with YU-J, so it's almost 11 years. This is the only thing that continues.
-Do you have any attachment to the local area / Kyoto?
YU-J: Your local area is close to the sea, so there are lots of nature and it feels good. We are invited to perform at the adult ceremony and perform and receive the Kyoto Prefecture's Sports Special Encouragement Award.
i-to: My hometown is nothing at the bottom of the mountain (laughs), but that's because I can do this kind of work and I can feel it because I can go to various places. Because I am allowed to do an exciting work that is different from general working people.
-Why did you decide to do it from there?
i-to: ALEG-Re has 4 predecessors. We are people of one turn higher than us, and once the number of people is missing because of employment or marriage. Among them, I had known Aleg-Re for a long time, and I was allowed to get along well, so I got a voice and joined it when the number of people decreased. After that, at the time of JAM, the leader at that time called YOSSHI and I felt that YU-J, who was working together in the local area, will also join. The technical people are the same from the predecessors, but in many cases they learned a lot from the mental side.
Strengths and characteristics of ALEG-Re shining in the world
-Please tell us the path to get up to the top in the world as Aleg-Re, and the factors that have made you the best in the world in retrospect.
YU-J: In 2013 I became Japan's No. 1 team (FF-JAPAN CUP victory), when I went to the Brazilian World Cup in 2014, I went to the place and toured a performance tour for 40 days. And in 2015 I became the first in the world and became the best in the world. I thought that I could win absolute championships from the challenge to the event first.
YOSSHI: When we started to look at it, the tournament was small, but it got bigger, and when we won here, we were able to say it was the best in the world and we participated. Actually, I already knew how to show how I was good, but there were no people doing it in the world, so this is a great opportunity. So there was a fear that I could not be evaluated at all honestly, or would be evaluated simply. Still, I was confident about what I had accumulated so far, so I decided to try it.
YU-JA: We have strengths in the high synchronization rate and composition. People overseas are often focused on the difficulty level of the technique itself and often do not have the same movement, or are not related to BGM.
YOSSHI: It is a feeling that others are doing things that only the people of the industry communicate.
