高校生ながら社会人クラブチームに入る選択をした加藤優選手。高校卒業後、しばらくしてからはチームの親会社での仕事も退職し、アルバイトをしながら野球中心の生活をするという茨の道を歩んで、女子プロ野球選手としてのキャリアを切り開くことになる。 ルーキーだった昨季は打率.281の成績を残し、新人特別賞を受賞した。しかし、今季は思うような成績が残せず苦しんでいる。 それでも8月のオールスターゲームでは2安打3打点を放って存在感を示し、9月4日の対京都戦では2本のタイムリーを放ち、自身プロ初のヒロインとしてお立ち台に立った。 プロ入り前後の心境の変化と2年目のシーズンについて、どのように感じているのかだろうか。

-高校卒業後は女子プロ野球を目指して野球浪人していますね。
Although I was playing baseball while working in Asahi Trust, I felt that I did not have enough practice amount to aim for a higher level. So I started preparing my practice environment first and then wanted to take a women's professional baseball entry test.
Although I think that I will oppose it if it is normal if I enter quite a company and I think that it would be opposed if I talked to my parents that I wanted to prepare my practice environment, so I decided to ronin.
-Did not there be the difficulty of learning myself about myself?
Although it was an environment that would be tolerated if I thought of it as much as I could, I feel strongly that I can not do baseball, so I feel that I do not want to waste if the environment that I can do is in front of me I got used to it.
だからこそ女子プロ野球の入団テストにも合格できたのだと思いますし、あの当時の自分なりには頑張っていたのだと振り返って思います。
-Have you studied about your regular training and care methods on your own?

そこには理学療法士の方もいて、昼休みにはそこで体幹トレーニングを見てもらっていました。バイト先の人に協力してもらって、効果も上がっていたと思います。 おじいちゃんやおばあちゃんもすごく応援してくれて、嬉しかったですね。

あと岩見（香枝・#10＝埼玉アストライア）選手にはウェイトトレーニングを見てもらったりしています。岩見選手は日本体育大学でソフトボールをやっていたのですが、その頃に私がいた厚木商業高校に練習に来たりしていて、当時からめっちゃうまいなと思ってプレーを見ていました。 そういう選手と一緒のチームでプレーできていることを無駄にせず、いろいろなものを吸収したいです。

今年はシーズンの初めから数字が良くなかったので、多少は体重の減少というのも関係はあるかもしれませんが、原因はそこではないと思っています。 バッティングに関してすごく悩んで、冬場から少しフォームを変えたりしていた中で自分の振りができなくなって、分からなくなっていったところがありました。

アマチュア時代は引っ張りが多かったのですが、プロに入ってからは打球が反対方向にしか飛ばない時期がありました。 悪くなるとバットのヘッドが下がる癖があるので、よく言われることですが、そうならないようにバットを上から出すようにしています。そう意識して初めてレベルスイングになるくらいなので。
