Yamamoto：最初に先生が作られたのって、スパイクを買ってきて裏を剥がして、試作のソールを張り付けるやり方だったんです。プラスチックに孔をあけて、そこに刃を一本一本埋めていく。それを、裏を剥がしたスパイクに接着テープで張り付けて、まずはコンクリートの上や土の上を歩いて。

でも、小山先生の試作品は、普通のスパイクより刃の本数が多いにも関わらず、まるで突き上げがなかった。あと、スパイク自体が軽かったのにもビックリしたかな。  

――サッカーの世界ですと、スパイクに軽さを求める選手は珍しくありませんが、野球でも軽さは大切なんですか？
