Interview with Asuka Terada (100m hurdles) "Gear Vol.2 that has overcome the hurdles together"
After retiring as an athletics player (100m hurdles) at the age of 23, he returned to the world of athletics for the first time in six years in 2019 after going through "marriage, childbirth, college entrance, and work." In September, he overcame the 13-second barrier that the Japanese could not break and set a new record in Japan (12.97). In October, he participated in the World Championships in Athletics for the first time in 10 years. Physically unbelievable things are happening. We asked Asuka Terada (Pasona Group), who has overcome various hurdles, to tell us about the gear that has overcome the hurdles together.

--Did you have any particular preference for color?
Terada:Color has done something quite strange. You can change the left and right colors, or change the line color. What I liked the most was the light blue line on the white base, but in the end I thought that a simple one would be good.
――Why did you like light blue shoes on a white base?
Terada:It was cute and I wanted to give it a refreshing image. Also, I thought it would be nice to have a color that feels lighter. White and light blue looked lighter than black.
――At that time, were you also stoic on shoes?
Terada:It's not "natural to have them made", but I felt that spikes couldn't be worn on ordinary commercial products.
--Did you have the elite make shoes since you were a student?
Terada:I had it made since I was a high school student. I think I was blessed.
――What is the goodness of On?
Terada:Although it is a running shoe, it is a great attraction that it can also be used in town. The jerseys are simple, but many of them are really stylish.
Terada:This jacket is very light, but it repels water quite a bit. It's stylish and functional even in everyday wear.
--- You have both.
Terada:That's right. It is useful because it is convenient. The lines are crisp and beautiful, and they look cool.
――What kind of spikes did you wear when you were playing rugby?
Terada:New Balance soccer spikes.
――What was your commitment at that time?
Terada:At first, I wore ASICS, but when I heard from New Balance that they had soccer spikes modeled on land spikes, I decided to wear them.
It was actually like a spike on land and was light, and because it was made of kangaroo leather, it stretched a little and it didn't stretch too much, so the fit was good.
It's not too much of a catch, or in the case of girls, if it gets caught too much, the muscle strength is weak, so there are times when the whole cross is injured or it gets caught and cannot be pulled out, so that was very good.
The feeling of pulling out was good, and it felt like I was running with spikes on land.
――Since you returned to land this year, you have been using On as it is, and Spike was ASICS at the beginning of your return, right?
Terada:Yes, it's ASICS.
--What is your current commitment to spikes?
Terada:When I returned, I had a friend at ASICS, so I asked him to buy it. It's not a bespoke order, but I've been wearing ASICS for some time, so I felt like I was used to it.
A new type came out, but the upper was too solid to fit. I bought it because the shape and fit were different from the first spike, but I wore the first spike. I wore the one with soft leather.
――Do you like soft leather?
Terada:I like to wrap my feet like this, and there is a space between my shoes and my feet, which makes me feel uncomfortable.
――I think there are talks about order spikes now that you have set a new record in Japan, but how about it?
Terada:Thankfully, I have received quite a few stories like that.
Mr. On has been with me since I wasn't producing results, so if possible I would like to use On's products except for spikes.
In that case, I would be most happy if I only provided spikes, but I'm quite worried because there are cases where I wear the manufacturer's items all over my body.
On is a little more expensive than other manufacturers. This garment costs about 25,000 yen, but the function is very good.
I don't think you can tell how good it is unless you wear it or wear it. Even if it feels a little expensive, I think it makes me feel the value of what I paid for.
On does not offer discounts, but the reason for not discounting is that I know that it is expensive and I want to become such a brand, so I would like to have shoes worn and I think I should have paid that much. There seems to be.
