――ランニングソックスは、どのようにして誕生したのですか。
Taguchi: In 2003, when NTT West Japan was sold to us, it says, "There is no good socks when you marathon, are not you?
そこで、「彼の足に合うマラソン用の靴下を作ってみよう」と、弊社現会長の発案で開発が始まりました。その方は、2008年北京オリンピックにマラソン日本代表選手として出場した大崎悟史さんとなります。
――開発から完成するまでにどれほどの期間を要しましたか。
Taguchi: Since 2004 hearing and planning started, it was first commercialized in 2006, so it will be about two years.
――具体的に何を行いましたか。
Taguchi: Since we developed around mainly casual socks, there was no know-how about running, and there were not any Nitters suitable for making running socks.
However, I managed to find a factory in Nara and I kept hearing about what kind of socks Osaki wanted to wear.
――田口さんはマラソン経験がありますか。
Taguchi: I was originally unlikely to have any relationship with a marathon and it was very hard as I had not run at all. At the beginning of the development, when saying "Please wear socks as a monitor" at the training team of the track team, "I will wear it, but you can run, too!", Suddenly30㎞も走らされましたからね(笑)。
――それで走ったのも凄いですね(笑)。
Taguchi: I was in my twenties and I managed to run for a few days, but it was hell (laugh). It is impossible to say that I am done now.
――命懸けで開発されたものなのですね。
Taguchi: I enjoyed it (laugh).
――初めて完成したソックスに、滑り止め機能は付いていましたか。

――いつから5本指タイプを販売開始したのですか。

Currently, for our running, 5 fingers are the main product. This also holds the arch firmly, durability is very good.
――御社のソックスは物凄く丈夫ですよね。実は、6年前のものを今でも履いています。
Taguchi:Thank you. Even at the venues of marathon events, we received similar impressions from many customers. From the people of the business group, those of the standard type are received highly from the citizen runners, and those of the five fingers type are highly appreciated.
――他に特長はありますか。
Taguchi：5With regard to this finger, it has a bent shape, supports the triangle part of the arch and has support functions, so that you can move your fingers freely without giving excessive stress to other parts.
We also make it three-dimensional according to the shape of the foot, so that there is no change in width as in normal socks, we increase and decrease the number of stitches and we are knitting. The sense of cramping of the crotch of the foot is small, the fit of the fingertip is also good. Regarding slip prevention, we use thin silicone rubber, reduce discomfort more commonly than what is generally and increase the grip power。
For the material, we developed a composite material with a polyester sweat-absorbent quick-drying wrapped around a blend of cotton and deodorant fibers, comfortable and durable without stickiness, suitable for running I am doing it.
