Ask B Leager! Chiba's "Japanese Big Man" Ito Toshihiro's commitment to gears Vol.1 "Bash has to be accustomed to practical use"
On September 22, 2016, one year has passed since a new era began in the Japanese basketball world. Looking back, there is no doubt that the pro league was more exciting than expected. Meanwhile, the Chiba Jets achieved their first victory at the Emperor's Cup in January and showed great progress, reaching the semifinals of the B League Championship (CS). One person who supported this team was 204cm tall center player Shunsuke Ito. This time, we spoke to a 38-year-old veteran who has been playing on the front line for 15 years and has made history with Japan Basketball about his gear.

―では早速、伊藤選手がバスケを始めたきかっけをお聞かせください。
Ito：中学校からバスケを始めたのですが、きっかけはやはり『スラムダンク』ですね。僕の学生の頃は90年代前半で、ちょうどこの漫画で“バスケブーム”が巻き起こっていましたから、友達とどの部活に入るか話し合ったときに「バスケ面白そうじゃない？」って（笑）。みんなで流行に乗っかった感じですね。
- The impact from "Slam Dunk" at that time is great ~! Ito is 204 cm, which is quite large, but how tall were those when he was a junior high school student?
Ito：I think that it was 169 cm when we measured for the first time after entering school. However, although it was a big one among our generation, when I listened to the current height of middle school students to the current basketball player, there were people who had 180 cm (laugh). Ito：ジョーダンはちょっと高いので買えませんでした（笑）。21,500円くらいしたので、中学生の僕には手が届かなかったですね…。
The first thing I bought was "Air Maestro" by NIKE. The features of the manufacturers and Bash were not detailed at all, and in the old days there were not too many large sizes, so it was hard to find what fits my foot size. Ito：僕はポジションがセンターなので、ガッチリとした耐久性・ホールド性が高いバッシュを選んでいます。ちょっと体重もあるので、あまりにねじれてしまったり、ソールの柔らかいものは履けません。
However, recent models of Bash tend to produce models that emphasize weight reduction. I liked the hard and heavy Bash that I used to wear before, but at one time I tried wearing light things to try, I realized that the speed feeling was "completely different!" After that it began to ask for light weight as well.
―ということは、昔と比べてバッシュも段々と変化してきていると？
Ito： Although it does not change so much as a basic structure, the system of the air which is inside is changing little by little, and the impression that midsole cushion is getting more and more new.
というのも、昔のバッシュってエアが入っているとはいえミッドソールが固いですし、アウトソールも硬くて、足に慣れるまでに時間がかかったんです。
But recently Bash has secured cushioning and resilience even if it is thin to some extent due to progress of technology. As lightness and softness came out, it became familiar now if you wear it two or three times.
―ソールの厚さでそこまで違いが生まれるものなんですね。“慣れ”という部分では、サッカー選手にインタビューで聞くと、試合の前半と後半でスパイクを新しく履き替えるという選手もいました。逆にバスケット選手は新品にするというより、慣らしたものを履くという感じなのでしょうか？
Ito： The way of using the basket depends on the position. Bash must also be adjusted to match the movement. However, it takes time to make a grip feeling firmly on the outsole and cushioning of the mid sole to your liking.
Some people like to wear a new one and like the state as it is, but most players do not take it a little to get used to the game unless they wear it a little. So, in my case1シーズン（60試合）で10I only use feet and I will not change my shoes to new shoes during the match.
NBAIt is not unusual to change games every time with a contract with a sponsor as a player class of a sponsor, but I think that cushioning is almost unnecessary for football spikes, so the neighborhood is different from basketball, each feature I think. It is interesting.
