そして、いつものように、フウガドールすみだの須賀監督が選手たちに一声かけて、練習がスタートする。監督によって練習メニューの説明とグループ分けがなされたあと、さっそく諸江の特長が表れた。  

自分のグループ内でトレーニングの理解が浅い選手がいると、必ず声をかけて身振り手振りを交えて、戦術の意図や動きを説明し、グループ内の練習をうまくオーガナイズしていくのだ。

さらに、練習メニューの合間も、頻繁に新加入選手や外国人選手と会話をする姿が目立った。須賀監督の意図を汲み取って、他の選手に伝える言語能力をもつ諸江のニックネームは「ピッチ上の監督」。  

どのチームも引退や移籍によって選手が入れ替わり、チームづくりが非常に難しい時期だが、諸江はチームのキャプテンとして、ピッチ内外で、多くのチームメイトと積極的にコミュニケーションをとることが出来る。常にチームのために行動することが当たり前のようにできるからこそ、監督からの信頼も厚いのだろう。

チーム内での激しい競争が、選手たちの能力をさらに上に押し上げていく。この日も諸江は得意の1対1でチャンスを生み、危機察知能力を活かしてピンチの芽を何度も摘んでいた。

諸江剣語という人間が、なぜチームにとって重要な存在なのか。  

今シーズンよりフウガに新しく加入した岡村康平は、諸江の存在をこう語る。

プレーの質が高いとか、キャプテンシーがあるというだけでなく、不安定になりがちなチームをより良い方向に導くような存在感や姿勢こそが、監督に重宝される理由なのだろう。

この1、2年の間に、長年にわたってチームを支えてきた選手たちが引退した。名実ともに、精神的な支柱としてチームに不可欠な存在となった今の諸江には、重圧を背負って楽しむだけの覚悟がある。
