Kato：韓国では、日本人として見られていたんですか？
Escudero：マッチデープログラムに名前と国旗が載っているんですけど「エスクデロ【日本】！？ 誰！？ 日本人おらんやろ！」みたいになっていました（笑）。韓国ってあまりサッカー人気がないから、友達に連れられて見にきた人も多いので。もちろんサポーターは日本語でもメッセージをくれるし、アルゼンチン人としても見ます。

Escudero：僕が嬉しかったのは、これまでFCソウルでプレーした日本人は前園真聖さん1人だったんですけど、2012年に僕が2人目の日本人として行った後に、社長や監督が「今後のアジア枠は日本人がいい」って言ってくれた事なんです。日本人は健全だし、活躍してくれるって思ってもらえた事が嬉しい。
Kato：道を作ったんですね。
Escudero：中国の江蘇蘇寧に行った時も、FAカップで優勝して活躍できて、日本人にもっと来て欲しいって思ってもらえた事が嬉しかったんです。今も日本人にたくさんオファーがあるけど…なかなか現実になるのは難しいですよね、中国に行くことは、そんなに簡単な事ではないですから。
Kato：簡単ではないのは、環境の面で？
Escudero：まず、洗濯は全部自分ですよね。練習着でアップして、ユニフォームで試合して、終わったら移動用の練習着を着て。アウェイの時は、数日臭いままカバンに入れて家に帰ってから洗濯。試合後も、すぐシャワーを浴びたいんですけど、どのスタジアムもお湯が出ないんですよ。なので、ホテルに移動してから浴びていました。
Kato：不思議ですね。中国のクラブは大金を払って有名選手を連れてくるぐらいなので、お金はあるわけですよね？
Escudero：サッカーに限らずですが、中国はまず見た目を良くしようとするんですね。たとえば、スタジアムの見た目は凄いけど、ロッカールームはボロボロ。車もそうです。見た目は良いけどすぐに壊れるし、パワーがない。
Kato：なるほど、人も物も見える部分をまず整えようと。
Escudero：食事の時も衝撃を受けました。中国では、たとえばカニを食べる時に、殻を“プッ“てテーブルに吐くんです。お皿があるのに。チームの食事会場に行ったら、テーブルのどこを見ても殻、殻、殻。テーブルを汚すのが、おいしかったですっていう意思表示なんですよ。でも僕はわからないから、「え？ どこに座ればいいの？」って。
Kato：それは大変ですね。サッカー用具に関してはどうですか？ みんな、どんな物を使っているのでしょう？
Escudero：中国はサッカー協会がナイキと契約しているので、ボールもスパイクも全チームがナイキなんです。
Kato：じゃあ中国のリーグは、全チーム、選手全員、上から下までナイキなんですか？
Escudero：本当はそうしたいのだと思いますが、年に1回しかスパイクの提供がないので、スパイクが壊れたら、みんな自分で好きなメーカーのものを買って履いていました。
Kato：へぇ。一般の方はどうですか？ やはりナイキやアディダスが人気？
Escudero:I agree. People in China love famous brands. Even if things are good, it is not so much unless it is used worldwide .... Because China had little information on overseas until about 2000. Kato：誤魔化せないですね。そういう意味で、最近のエスクデロ選手は周りを生かすプレーが増えたと感じます。性格も変化したってことですか？

Escudero:I agree. Last time the number of times I entered the penalty area last season was No. 1 in Dantotsu, but it was disappointing that there were many injuries in the court shop.
