STORY OF CEO 1st Nagasawa Shigetoshi (Hakubaku Co., Ltd.) Vol.1 "My youth summer camp"
I will start a new project. KING GEAR has a policy that "the protagonists of sports are not the only players". A player without a spike, a keeper without a glove, a team without a sponsor can not play a player. It is for the above reasons to do the project to spotlight the sponsor. The first memorable occasion will be asking President Nagasawa Co., Ltd. about the story of the youth aged in rugby and reasons to support Van Furet Kofu.

--Nice to meet you. Thank you for accepting the first new project!
Nagasawa This is it. What should I start with?
――First of all, I would like to ask Mr. Nagasawa about his sports history. Did you start rugby from college?
Nagasawa That's right. I'm from college.
--Did you play sports in high school or junior high school?
Nagasawa I didn't play high school, I played baseball with elementary and junior high schools.
――It's baseball after all!
Nagasawa I think we used to play baseball in our age. Baseball was the major player. I liked playing baseball in elementary and middle school, so I wanted to play baseball in high school. However, high school is far from school. So high school devoted itself to studying and entered university (University of Tokyo).
At the beginning, I thought I would play baseball at university, but since I've only played baseball, I can't play baseball from softball to hardball, even though it's the University of Tokyo. So I removed baseball from the options, and next I thought about rugby American football boats.
――Why did you get interested in boats?
Nagasawa The University of Tokyo Univ.It was strong. Moreover, he was told that he could become an Olympic athlete. It was a little jarring, but after all, I thought it would be boring to just row a boat every day (laughs).
I chose rugby because I thought ball games were better. I was wondering which one was American football, but at that time rugby was the most popular.
- University college rugby was the most popular.
NagasawaIt was the most popular at that time. Is it the era after Mr. Hirao? After the days when Doshisha was strong, Imaizumi, Horikoshi, Yoshida, and other star players were active. They are two down. Below was the stars of Meiji and Waseda such as Kiyomiya and Onishi. Keio became the best in Japan when I was in the first grade.
――You won Keio once, didn't you?
Nagasawa Well, when I was in the third grade. When I was in the first grade, I was smashed. The other side is the best in Japan at that time. It ’s ridiculously strong. I won when I was in the third grade, so it was news as it was.
――Isn't it difficult to start rugby from scratch at university?
Nagasawa It's hard (laughs) As expected.
--That's right. Others are all high school and experienced, right?
Nagasawa At the University of Tokyo, there were quite a lot of inexperienced forwards. That was okay, though. However, I suddenly joined the club and broke my leg at a welcome party for new students. It was broken, or doing judo ...
-Is it judo ...?
Nagasawa When I was in junior high school, I also played judo a little while playing baseball. But it looked a little nice and I introduced myself as "I was doing judo!"
Introduce yourself on the ground with the same momentum at the welcome party for new students. It was after the practice, so I wore spikes.
At that time, there was a judo 2nd dan guy at the same time, and that guy was really strong.
I was 4th grade. When I said I was doing judo, it got involved. It was a spike, so I had a slight pain (laughs).
――The start was a painful start (laughs)
Nagasawa About a week after I entered the school, I broke my bones. After that, I returned to work, but even in the first grade, I entered the summer training camp with my physical strength weakened.
――Isn't the summer training camp difficult?
Nagasawa I think the summer training camp for the first graders is tough. Especially in the case of rugby, at that time there was a place where summer training camps were squeezed at every university. That's why the University of Tokyo also practiced quite hard. I practiced from 4am, and then from 9am, I had a total of 3 training sessions. There was also practice running on Lake Yamanaka in the dark in the morning. With Keio. In practice to be run earnestly.
――And you can't drink water yet, right?
Nagasawa Rugby can drink pretty something like muddy water. There is a cup in a big bucket, and everyone scoops with water by hand. As everyone's hands are dirty, they gradually become muddy (laugh) But I did not mind doing something like that.
――If you don't drink it, you will die from heat stroke (laughs).
Nagasawa Everyone was really drinking muddy water. A female manager melts Pocari in a bucket. Everyone scoops it up and drinks it. The seniors who scoop up at the beginning are good, but it seems that the water is getting muddy more and more (laughs) The bed in the training camp was also jerky.
――Ah, it feels like sand. nostalgic.
Nagasawa After all, the bottom end is laid down at the entrance. Seniors often sleep in the back of the room.
――It's the customary small fish sleeping in the training camp.
Nagasawa Oh yeah. And when I was in the first grade, I was surely put in the closet. (Laughs) There are too many people in the room.
――It's a situation where you don't have a place to pull a futon anymore.
Nagasawa I fell asleep halfway into the closet and slept.
――It's tough, so I'll do it from 4 o'clock in the morning with 3 parts training ...
Nagasawa So run and scrum. That's Scrum. I haven't assembled until the summer training camp. Suddenly, I got number 3 on the right prop. I really wanted to do flanker (laughs)
I became a right prop, so it is hard to organize a scrum for the first time. Prop is burdensome as it is the essence at the time of Scrum. My back bent and I could not breath。
-I can't breathe ...
Nagasawa I was suffocating (laughs) and my ribs broke during Scrum. The auxiliary cartilage is snappy. But if it wasn't an injury, it was said that a broken cartilage wasn't an injury.
――Then you did it while breaking.
NagasawaWrap it with taping. If the dislocation of the acromioclavicular joint is not an injury (laughs)
--Wow ...
Nagasawa It's a great time, right? I'm doing something like pouring the water from the kettle onto the injured area. Well, the summer training camp of the first year was tough.
――But didn't you decide to quit?
Nagasawa I did not think that. There was a sense of accomplishment after the summer camp. I guess I had a feeling of something。
――Is it like you've gone beyond one step? Is there anything that you have experienced at that time now?
Nagasawa It's paradoxical, though. Until then, it was a very successful life. I was confident in myself. I think I can do it. But at this time, I found myself weak. It's hard to practice, so I'd like to take a break by saying that I'm a little injured.
I can actually come back after taking a break from practice, but it seems like I should stop today with slurping. After all, the other person doesn't know if it hurts. It's like telling your seniors, "I can't do it yet," and taking a break from practice to pretend to be an injured person. At that time, I felt like my weakness or something.
At that time, I feel like I was taught about the weaknesses of people. I wonder if I'm sly myself (laughs)
