Ryota Morioka (Anderlecht) interview Vol.3 "Student days when he was wearing only cheap spikes"
Ryota Morioka who started his professional career at Vissel Kobe in J League. After that I played in Poland, this season I gained 15 points and 13 assists in the Belgian league. I have heard plenty of stories about the days fighting on the back of Belgium's prestigious Anderlecht's back number 10 on the commitment to the spikes that support the feet in the European land.

――You mentioned the characteristics of Polish football earlier, but it's a kind of physical game where you kick the ball with a bang, right?
MoriokaLower teams are more prone to it. The top team is also the main physical.
ーーI think you suffered even more because you were in a lower team, but is Poland a difficult opponent for Japanese people?
MoriokaHow do you think? I think it depends on how you play soccer. But I feel that Poland is weak against a team with technology.
We will try to fight physically, so I think it will be difficult for Poland if it is done with high technology.
――It seems like it would be good to aim for the back or something like that.
MoriokaThere are a lot of weak images in that kind of feeling. It's just an image of the Polish league.
- But having experience with the Polish league is a weapon.
MoriokaWell, I don't think it's very helpful at that level. I know Polish league football, but there are no representative class players. The representative players are all players who are doing the main axis in big clubs in other countries.
――I think you were surprised by Khalil's dismissal, but honestly, how was it?
MoriokaLooking back at the match against Ukraine, I can say that it didn't go well. I didn't get any results. After all, soccer is about results.
No matter how good football you play, it's not good if you lose, and no matter how bad you play, if you win, it will be appreciated.
At that point, the results hadn't come out yet. But if you ask me if I won't get results in the World Cup, I still don't know. It's been two months since then, so how much can we do under the pressure of the World Cup? something might change.
It's not going well at the moment, but I don't think it's a good reason to replace it. I think the criteria for judging whether or not we will get results at the World Cup.
Personally, I will focus on improving my condition as a team and raising my own level.
In terms of standing position, I haven't played for the national team that much, and in order to be selected as a member of the World Cup team and to produce results as a member of the Japanese national team, I need to improve my condition and produce results with my current team. Just remove it.
It doesn't matter if you work hard because it's Khalil, or you work hard because you're no longer Khalil, or you don't work hard.
It doesn't matter who the director is. All the team members have to do 100% of what Mr. Nishino does. In the end, it doesn't matter who the director is.
――Now you are producing solid results in Belgium, and when you are called up to the Japanese national team, you are also producing results. When you were Khalil-san, did you get regular contact from representatives and did you come to see them?
MoriokaThe staff came by once in a while and said they were checking all the time.
―― Now let's talk about the all-important spike. Do you remember the first pair of spikes you wore when you started playing soccer?
MoriokaI don't remember at all (laughs)
- How was your student days like at high school?
MoriokaWhen I was in high school, I wore a lot of different things. Even when I was in middle school. The basic base was one pair at a time, and if it collapsed, I would buy it. For example, wearing Puma, then Adidas, then Asics.
――Have you tried many things?
MoriokaNo, I was only wearing really cheap spikes. It's a sale item that looks like it's in a basket.
When I bought my favorite spikes from the stock disposal items, I ended up with various makers.
――What criteria did you use when choosing from the basket?
MoriokaWhat is it? It's almost a feeling At that time, I took a quick look and decided to try this.
Looking back, I don't think we have anything in common. The colors are also different. I wore a lot of different spikes.
――15,000 yen is on sale for 4,000 yen, so this is a good deal! I chose it, but was there such a thing?
Moriokait's been! ! I bought only those discounts (laughs)
――Are you particular about whether natural leather is good or artificial leather is good?
MoriokaI was longing for nature, but isn't it expensive? That's why I always wore prosthetics.
――Were you concerned about the weight?
MoriokaI didn't really care about weight. If anything, I felt like I wasn't playing soccer with spikes.
My parents also told me things like, ``A good guy can be good with really cheap spikes, and there's no point in wearing such good shoes.''
――Before wearing good spikes, get your skills first! It is that.
MoriokaThat's how I felt. Also, good natural leather spikes have to be taken care of.
――So that the leather doesn't stretch.
MoriokaI don't like that. (laughs)
――Artificial leather is easy to care for. I think the life span of Spike was short because I practiced a lot in club activities.
MoriokaSince we were practicing on the dirt field, we often changed when we were running out of points.
