　2015年秋に行われたラグビーのワールドカップ（Ｗ杯）イングランド大会。エディー・ジョーンズ・ヘッドコーチ（ＨＣ）率いるラグビー日本代表は、日本ラグビー史上初となるＷ杯1大会3勝を挙げ、国内外に大きなムーブメントを巻き起こした。1次リーグ初戦で南アフリカを撃破した快挙（34－32）は、世界を驚嘆させ、Ｗ杯後の日本における「80年代以来のラグビーブーム」の発端となった。

　
　そんなエディー・ジャパンの快挙を支えた立役者のひとりが、1次リーグで個人2位となる計58得点を挙げたFB五郎丸歩＝ヤマハ発動機＝だ。今回KING GEAR（キングギア）では、ジャパン不動のフルバックにスパイクにまつわる独占取材を敢行。後編ではスパイク遍歴からスパイクの手入れ、サッカーとの意外な関わりまで、多岐に渡ったインタビューをお届けする。

　イタリアの至宝ロベルト・バッジョの愛用スパイクは一貫してディアドラだった。バッジョに憧れてディアドラを履き、遠く九州の地から清水エスパルスに声援を送るサッカー少年だった五郎丸は、その後運命に導かれるようにラグビーへと回帰する。高校は地元福岡を離れ、兄（亮＝コカコーラ＝）を追って佐賀県随一の強豪校・佐賀工業高校に進学した。

- When did you start rugby?

- What kind of spike selection do you recommend for student Rugby Man?

Goro Maru: It depends on the environment. For example, if you are in high school, there will be plenty of ground on the soil, so you can not say exactly what is good.
